Quantification of the myocardial partition coefficient for intravenous iron (ferric carboxymaltose) using T1 mapping cardiovascular magnetic resonance
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping has recently been shown to be highly sensitive for detecting myocardial iron overload. Furthermore, T1-mapping can be used to quantify relative concentrations of contrast agents that shorten T1. We hypothesized that T1 mapping can detect and quantify the myocardial distribution of a clinically available intravenous iron substitution agent.

Modified look-locker inversion recovery T1 mapping indices: assessment of accuracy and reproducibility between magnetic resonance scanners
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping indices, such as T1 time and partition coefficient (λ), have shown potential to assess diffuse myocardial fibrosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate how scanner and field strength variation affect the accuracy and precision/reproducibility of T1 mapping indices. METHODS CMR studies were performed on two 1.5T and three 3...
متن کاملThe protein binding substance Ibuprofen does not affect the T1 time or partition coefficient in contrast-enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance
BACKGROUND Contrast enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) with T1 mapping enables quantification of diffuse myocardial fibrosis. Various factors, however, can interfere with T1 measurements. The purpose of the current study was to assess the effect of co-medication with a typical protein binding drug (ibuprofen) on T1 values in vitro and in vivo. METHODS 50 vials were prepared with...
متن کاملNoncontrast myocardial T1 mapping using cardiovascular magnetic resonance for iron overload.
PURPOSE To explore the use and reproducibility of magnetic resonance-derived myocardial T1 mapping in patients with iron overload. MATERIALS AND METHODS The research received ethics committee approval and all patients provided written informed consent. This was a prospective study of 88 patients and 67 healthy volunteers. Thirty-five patients underwent repeat scanning for reproducibility. T1 ...
متن کاملHistologic validation of myocardial fibrosis measured by T1 mapping: a systematic review and meta-analysis
BACKGROUND Myocardial fibrosis is being increasingly recognised as a common final pathway of a wide range of diseases. Thus, the development of an accurate and convenient method to evaluate myocardial fibrosis is of major importance. Although T1 mapping is a potential alternative for myocardial biopsy, validation studies are limited to small numbers and vary regarding technical facets, and incl...
متن کاملAssessment of diffuse myocardial fibrosis in systemic sclerosis by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
Background Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a connective tissue disorder characterized by excessive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs, including the heart. Traditional late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is dependent on differential (i.e., focal) fibrosis within the myocardium. However, diffuse interstitial myocardial fibrosis (DF) affecting th...
